Habits

Unpopular opinion, I am in control of my habits and I can choose to change them. It starts with me.

Crossing those bridges.
“When you want something bad enough, when it's living and breathing inside of you, you find a way.”
One thousand words.
I bargain with myself constantly. Just write a thousand words a day and your book will be done in forty five days. Before Thanksgiving! It sounds so easy, and it probably is. Definitely a simple task. And there will always be valid reasons and plain old excuses not to. Even just thinking about my daily routine now, fitting in writing seems like a stretch.
Get up. Get kids ready for school, make sure they are dressed and fed and have brushed their teeth. Sit down to work that's always there and never seems to end. Pick the kids up from the bus. Snacks. More work. Dinner. Sports. Homework. My own social life, sometimes. Cleaning. Baths and showers. Wait, it's already 10pm!?! Got to get to bed so we can do it all again.
There is room in there for writing, believe it or not, I just have to make it. When you want something bad enough, when it's living and breathing inside of you, you find a way. I mean, here we are, on day three of writing about absolutely nothing and doing a decent job of squeezing it in. Right? Summer is not going to self-destruct on her own and Mia will not overthink without me. So, I better get to it. The goal is one thousand words today. It's measurable and achievable and eventually, it'll be a habit. <3
