The end of Mia and Summer

Finally. I have finished and published In Her Arms. The sequel to my first novel, In Her Eyes. I have been writing this one for what seems like an eternity. I kept running into challenges just being able to write, figuring out where this story was going to go, and deciding how in depth I wanted to get.

The end result? I hope it is a good ending to a story that was born in me nearly eight years ago, after seeing a band I love perform at an outdoor festival in Seattle. As I watched them walk down an empty city street to their van, the idea of Summer and Mia and their love story started to take form.
I went home and started writing like crazy, in a notebook with a pen. Once I was 20,000 words in, I knew I needed to get it on a computer and keep on going. So, I did.
And as I wrote, I knew that first book could not have a happy ending. What starts in chaos, ends in chaos, right?
I did feel redemption could be possible and that sometimes, the time is just not right for love. Thus, the sequel idea was born. The word count for this one was hard to come by. While I had aspirations of getting close to In Her Eyes in word count, I just couldn't find the words to do it. BUT, I don't feel that the story is incomplete or unfinished, quite the opposite. And now, I can let this story go and live on as it will to make room for others to be born. Stay tuned. :)
